Wild West. Farm Dinner Announcement.

I grew up just two houses down from Road Ends Farm, a magical century-old property with abundant fruit and nut orchards, vineyards, and pasture. As the aging proprietors neared the end of their lives, their daughter returned to care for them, and the farm itself seemed to enter a gentle, hospice-like quiet.
They kindly allowed me and my neighborhood friends to roam freely about the farm. At six or seven years old, I would wander the orchards and grape patches, gleaning ripe fruit, wildflowers, and catching crickets until sunset, when the moist evening chill and periwinkle light would finally call me home.
There came a day when the farm went up for sale. When it sold, a piece of my heart sold too. The farmhouse was demolished, the cow fencing coiled and discarded, and the orchards bulldozed. In their place rose rows of prefab houses, electrical wires instead of grapevines, and postage-stamp yards instead of large open fields. The mystery and wonder of each new season was replaced by narrow gaps between boxy homes offering only slivers of vacant sky.
That loss of farmland to urbanization mirrored my own fading sense of childhood freedom. My parents raised me well in many ways, and what I cherish most is the freedom they gave me to explore and roam.
To me, freedom is love. It is peace. It is what I want for my family, my children, my community, our animals, and for myself.
Five years ago, George and I made a bold move toward more of that freedom. We left our beautiful Vashon Island farm, with its sweeping Puget Sound views, and relocated to what feels like the Wild West of Oregon.
Like many bright moments in my life, the discovery of this farm was born from darkness. During a routine farm haul, my heart heavy with reflection, I absentmindedly drew a circle on a map while juggling a dozen tasks. That near-accidental search led to Neverstill. We visited the next day and made an offer by week’s end.
Our first steps onto Neverstill Ranch were magical. It is surrounded by creeks and a river, encapsulating it like an island, enveloped by thousands of acres of forest and at the end of a dead-end road.
The historic farmhouse charmed us, the outbuildings and land were ample, and the proud 1890 barn stood tall. We completed our tour of the property with a drive to the backside of Neverstill Ranch. We were delighted to find logging equipment from the 1930s, old-growth log still in tow, abandoned right next to a meandering stream. The stream had so many beaver dams that it created an optical illusion of staring into an infinite chain of pools, reflecting the dimming light. The creek cascaded into a small eight-foot waterfall between miner’s lettuce and fern-kissed banks. And like what I felt on Road Ends Farm as a child in that similar moist chill of dusk, I realized we had again been called home.
Five years after our move to Neverstill, I still feel the peace and the freedom I felt as a child.
It is time for George and me to properly share this beauty and freedom with you. Thank you for your continued support of us in our culinary paths and farming journeys. Please continue to ride along with us. Adventure awaits.

The Farm Dinner Experience
You will be greeted with champagne and farm charcuterie. We will begin boots-on-the-ground, tending to the animals and exploring the farm through our hands-on tour while gathering ingredients straight from our forest, field, and garden.
Return to our open kitchen to rinse, chop, and prepare the day’s feast alongside Chef George Page’s culinary stylings, celebrating the bounty growing around us. At suppertime we will gather around the beautiful old cypress table, enjoying a languid meal together.
Relax by the creek, fire, or hot tub, then retire to cozy B&B rooms. Awake to a hearty farm breakfast and farm-roasted coffee, savoring the heart of the growing season in the coastal mountains of Oregon.
